Re: Sunderland

The ref certainly had a ‘game of two halves’.

Re: Sunderland

There’s no point sitting on the fence and being all reasonable about Brexit - it’s a very important and divisive issue with extra dimensions of class division and far right manipulation. Anyway, I disagree that a Premiership team would always be such a draw. Would people really go mad for Fulham or ...

Re: Sunderland

Not meaning to gloat over kids going hungry, obviously. But voting to leave the EU when you live in a poor area that relies on a foreign motor company for work seems foolish to me.

Re: Sunderland

I remember the footage of large men cheering aggressively at the Brexit vote. They must have a special sense of irony given that Nissan will inevitably leave and leave their area even more god forsaken

Re: January Transfer Window

Not a lot of point comparing the two, Sunderland have six times as many fans as we do. Southend are a similar size to us, did they sign players for millions? Our other peers Gillingham did get Ricky Holmes

Re: January Transfer Window

The Eeyores on here are quite extraordinary. Whoever we signed as a striker was only going to be a reserve, because Mackie was fucking awesome on Tuesday! And against Portsmouth

Re: January Transfer Window

He's a bit like Canice Carroll, young and promising but very gung-ho. We have two other right backs, let's use the money for a striker or two.

Not sure why people are being concerned about this minor bit of news rather than celebrating the fact that star forward Marcus Browne is staying!

Re: Oh dear god

TBH this isn’t so bad. Young footballers are meant to do stupid things (once) and I don’t think there’s a suggestion he was harassing anyone

Re: Robinson Out

You might ideally wish we had a different manager but I don’t think he’ll be sacked now it’s the transfer window - and would we want him to be? Once we’re safe it could be time to think about the best person to take us forward

Re: Robinson Out

I don't think McMahon is such a big miss. Most of our recent good results have been achieved without him - turning over Rochdale in some style, beating eighth-place Blackpool easily, and battling to draws at higher-placed Peterborough and Doncaster. We've also scored a fair few goals during that per...

Re: Robinson Out

I'm not particularly a Robinson lover, and the summer recruitment was almost as bad as the previous year's, but I do dislike wilful negativity. Why is Robinson now the worst thing ever, whereas ten days ago we thought we could have a run at the play-offs? It seems that he gets all of the blame and n...

Re: Robinson Out

Well, there were very few comments here during our good run - five home wins in a row. I wondered if the forum was closing down. I do remember Robinson saying something interesting after I think the Bradford defeat, that we weren’t good enough to win without giving our all. We’ve only got a dozen fi...

Re: Singing the Big-Crowd Blues

To be fair, it was just under 9,000, but I agree that gates are disappointing. It’s a shame as, today notwithstanding, we’re a pretty good side who have served up some exciting games recently. I guess we aren’t going anywhere- all we can hope for is mid table in Div 3, which oddly may be less of a d...
