Re: Going down?
Phew. We did it. I am reminded of that passage in The Miracle of Castel Di Sangro about “La Salvezza”: the beatific state reached at the end of the season by an exhausted and desperate club that narrowly escapes relegation. Fair play to Liam Manning. He’s come in, inheriting a basket-case, made us h...

Re: Going down?
Well the world feels a bit brighter today. Win one out of the next two and we really ought to be fine - and frankly, if we can't beat two teams below us then we won't have deserved to stay up. Great to see Tyler Goodrham getting the opening goal , and I loved his puppy-like enthusiasm in his RadOx i...

Going down?
For me, although the result was an adverse one yesterday, it wasn’t surprising - I didn’t expect us to get anything against Bolton. What was more problematic was the manner of it: so many chances but nothing to show for it. We can grumble about the lack of a red card for the challenge by their ‘keep...

Re: Posh point proves potential progress
Barely seems worth starting a new thread for the draw at Vale. For me, it's a point gained, and a welcome clean sheet. Manning has - rightly, in my view - decided to just make us hard to beat, and if we can nick a win then that's a bonus. Given the bin fire he inherited, I don't blame him. First we ...

Posh point proves potential progress - now including Vale analysis too
Forked out my £2.50 to listen on iFollow yesterday, and I’ve never enjoyed hearing a 0-0 draw more. A point and a clean sheet is never a bad result, but yesterday this was even truer than usual. I remember early on in Robbo’s reign after a terrible run we went to Southend and got a 0-0 and it signal...

Liam Managing
Thoughts on our new boss then? Personally, I’d have chosen Appleton - not out of misty-eyed nostalgia, but hard-headedly because I think he has the right attributes to sort us out. Manning is more of a blank canvas, but presumably interviewed better than MApp or McCann. I have a residual mistrust of...

Re: KR in / KR out?
It's a shame that the change has been made AFTER consecutive defeats against relegation rivals. A caretaker a fortnight ago would have had a pair of eminently winnable games in which to try and get a reaction out of the players. Instead, we've got Lincoln and Derby, both of whom will present problem...

Re: KR in / KR out?
Pretty clear consensus on here, and on the Radio Oxford phone-in after Saturday's game - and yet it's now 4pm on Monday and we've had no Club Statement replete with photo of corner flag hanging limply. Meanwhile, Grant Ferguson apparently "liked" an Oxford Mail tweet from Saturday quoting ...

KR in / KR out?
I wasn’t there today, but he’s got to go hasn’t he? That post-match interview was execrable. Hitting out at poor Nathan Cooper, who’s hardly Paxman when it comes to tough questioning, felt petty and desperate.
Anyone go to Cambridge today? Sounded pretty toxic on the terraces from what I can gather.

Re: Where are they now?
With Oxford not playing legitimate opposition yesterday, I went to watch Bristol City against Norwich. Mark Sykes stood out for the home side, scoring and being their main creative outlet, whilst Rob Atkinson had an accomplished game in defence, keeping Teemu Pukki in his pocket throughout. I mentio...
Re: Heroes
With so many squad changes over the last few seasons, does OUFC even have such heroes anymore? I'd suggest that Cameron Branagan is a worthy contender. He's done wonderfully for us since he came, has a talismanic presence on the pitch, turned down a move to a club higher up the leagues because he w...

Re: Give Us A (Stratfield) Brake
A cautionary tale for anyone naive enough to think that things move quickly and easily with local authorities. Today's Oxford Mail declares that the Cowley Branch Line (which would include a station to serve the Science Park and the Kas Stad) is one step closer to completion after winning the backin...

Re: Trouble Brewing
Agree with all of that, Isaac, except for this bit: For all the fair criticism of Robinson failing to build a balanced squad, it's not often mentioned that he regularly has to sell his best players at the same time (off the top of my head ... Ledson, Fosu, Baptiste, Dickie, Whyte, McNally, Atkinson)...

Re: Give Us A (Stratfield) Brake
Strong agree with OY. Oxford United Football Club do not benefit from commercial revenues at their current ground, they won't be benefiting from them at the new one. The best-case scenario is that there are commercial revenues to be had at The Triangle and the owners plough back some of them into th...

Re: Where are they now?
Got all excited this morning when I heard on the Today programme that Paul Tait is part of the interim management team at Everton - but it was the Crewe and Bristol Rovers one and not our one. Not even sure it warrants a post, but I found it interesting at least!
