Re:

And back to the original theme...how can you give the goalie 5 out of ten when he wasn't called upon to make a save of any description. That seems reasonable - if he wasn't called upon to make any saves, then it would be harsh to award him a less-than-average score. I start my marking at 5 and work...

Re:

Thanks for that. Also is Matt Day actually looking a bit porky or are people just getting on his back? After the comments I'd read, I was expecting him to be worse than he was. P.S. Jamie Guy was head and shoulders above anyone else on the pitch. P.P.S. The hot dogs were far superior to any that we...

Banbury

Going to my first pre-season friendly of the season tonight. REALLY looking forward to it, much more so than in recent years. Having said that, I get excited every August. Why? History should have taught me something by now.

Lee Jarman must rank up there somewhere. He has to have been one of our slowest ever players!

I'm a big fan of Tom Winters (having said that, I haven't seen him play since he left Oxford), but don't think we should upset the wages applecart for him. That could cause unrest in the dressing room.

Went to a game at Grimsby (great fish and chips). We were two up in about 10 minutes (Moody?) and two of the fattest lardy boys imaginable waddled on to the pitch from the Grimsby stand and sat down in a two man protest. It took about 6 stewards to pick them up.

In the late 60's I was at a game with my dad. We were sitting in the old Dressing Room Stand. There was on old lady sitting next to us doing her knitting. She seemed a pleasant enough old girl. The Oxford players ran out from underneath us and she put down her knitting to applaud politely. Then the ...

Re:

I've been pretty laid back about new signings so far, but I'm starting to get twitchy now. Hopefully several new faces will be in place by the end of June. I'm quite keen on our management team and the way we finished last season but let's not start the new season on the back foot. Please! Is that ...

Re:

If memory serves (which is a dangerous assumption), on one of our last visits to the Madejski in a league game the crowd (incl. Oxford fans) was about 6,000. Can anyone with a better memory confirm that? If so, there can't have been that many 'lifelong' Reading fans in tears. Your were right - to s...
