Re: Flog, carry, avoid
I would say ditto Lundstram. He may wish to make his mark over more than a single season before trying to make his way up the ladder. I'm not convinced that Lundstram is a Championship level player. Whilst he certainly has vision and a wonderful range of passes, I thought he could be neutralised ve...
Re: Strikers
Was he? Although I'm not impressed with the signings you mention I'm quite happy with Tyrone being released. I think it was strange timing seeing as Tyrone hadn't really done anything for three years, and we choose to release him when he's just scored 8 goals in 11 games. Realistically though, he's...

Re: Trannies at home
Ah but we were only on loan to the second division. Didn't we get someone decent in the next round as well? Leeds. Who we beat in a replay at Elland Road. And then Chelsea at home in the next round when Fordy missed a late penalty which would have earned another nice replay. Those were indeed the d...

Re: WEST BROM away
I do remember seeing our only win at the Hawthorns, 2-1 under Denis Smith. I also remember TRYING to see the same game, not only our only win at West Brom but either the first or the only away win of that season... But as a half-daft 18 year old going alone on British public transport, I encountere...

Really, any more 'embarrassing' than doing nothing at all, and capitulating from serious promotion contenders to utter relegation fodder in the space of 12 months? Just encouraging debate, but....I can't see that Oxford United owe Gary Waddock any more than the terms of his contract. This is a busi...

Re: Kick It Out
OK - l'll try one last time. "Joey Barton is a white obnoxious bastard with a habit putting his cigar out in peoples eyes'. That contains both colour and abuse but it is not racist. It is a criticism of the individual - not his ethnicity. The colour white is merely an adjective to assist you i...

Re: Mystery Man(ager)
I won't be surprised if it is a manager who has not been linked with the club by either fans, media or bookies. And that's not a bad thing. I agree (more that it will be, than should be, but I certainly won't be unhappy if we don't compensate a bottom-of-the-league club for their man). An interesti...

Re: Does IL have a clue?
The thing that should be noted is that this isn't me being down on Ian Lenagan for the sake of it. I am genuinely worried about a previously hopeful season. I'd be the first to congratulate him if he takes his time, appoints someone in the next few weeks, and they end up as a great long-term option...

Re: Oxford manager poll
...but most of all…why NOT Warnock? Er... because there's no way in the world he'd come to fourth-division Oxford United? And you know that...how? More importantly, why would he not, when, as OUFC4Eva says, he is keen to return to management, and presently only working in the media. There are only ...

Re: Oxford manager poll
What would I like? Thinking about the situation I would bring in an experienced manager to win us promotion on a short term contract and then review matters in May/June. Neil Warnock or someone like that would be my choice. Vastly experienced and a great motivator. He has six promotions on his CV a...

Re: So Wilder 'fans', what should we do?
Sorry, but can we please stop with the Atkins revisionism? The following two quotes are just nonsense, frankly: ...it is very hard to believe that Wilder's loss will be anything other than a significant interruption and one that could derail our season, a la Atkins. If [Wilder] does go we are looki...

Re: So Wilder 'fans', what should we do?
I wouldn't blame him for going... Let's be very clear here- CW doesn't have a choice about it, as he is under contract until the end of the season. He can't just "go". Acknowledged - but, living in the real world, if Wilder indicated that he wanted to go, we would ultimately only receive ...

Re: So Wilder 'fans', what should we do?
I wouldn't blame him for going, but I hope he doesn't. If he doesn't achieve his (and the club's) stated aim of promotion then he will almost certainly go, or be pushed, but I would imagine he would want to stay and finish the job this season. No-one seems to be running away with the league - there...
