Re: New signings

He was good for Crewe Alexandra and Bristol City but that ended in 2012. In the last 6 seasons, he has scored 16 goals in 137 appearances - that is not someone who is going to score lots of goals. Jon Obika has scored 30 goals in his last 136 appearances - say no more......... I'll say more! Irrele...

Re: Coventry Blues

I think there is too much generosity in some of the comments on here. Coventry are a very poor side, and we lost to them. We beat them in the League Cup, and they clearly learnt more about us than we did about them. I would say only Shandon Baptiste earned his money. Mitchell had a poor game. Yes he...

One of the best away days for ages.

That's all I need to say.

Hmm - Newport (a) - I can think of more interesting draws - only real consolation is it's winnable which could lead to a moneyspinner.
I’m struggling to imagine a less appetising tie.

Land of the Caraboa, home of the beaver

Massively improved performance last night from our "2nd string", against a more or less full strength Covvy. New keeper Jonathon Mitchell looks decent and balls out his defensive line. Made a few decent saves, getting down to low shots quickly, and catching shoulder height shots rather than just par...

Not one of our own

Canice Carroll has been sold to Brentford for an undisclosed fee.

Good business IMHO as he has not performed well for a long time and allegedly has had off field attitude problems.

Re: MemorOx

From the point of view of Oxford programme collectors, all I have spoken to would for obvious reasons prefer the 2 versions were not happening. For myself, I will be getting both versions, as I suspect will most Oxford collectors. The away versions will be produced in much smaller numbers and so wil...

Re: New signings

Harvey Bradbury, son of former striker Lee Bradbury , has signed a permanent deal (not sure for how long). He will rejoin Hungerford Town, where he'd previously been on loan, but will train with us during the week. In his interview he talks of enjoying watching his father play at Oxford when he was...

Re: Tykes thumping

Blimey, where to start? Well as far I can tell, that was the worst opening day defeat by an Oxford United side ever. Only 2 players deserve any credit. Simon Eastwood, and Rob Hall and he only played the last quarter of the game. I wasn't expecting a win. Barnsley clearly have double our crowds and ...

Re: New signings

I take the point about over-promising, but there has to be a little leeway here and there. Tomorrow (Wednesday) I think we may see up to 3 new names at the club. Sam Smith (from Reading) Jamie Mackie (from QPR) Marcus Brown (from West Ham) Well the timescale was a bit out, but we have now seen two ...

Re: Where are they now?

I see Patrick Hoban has failed at each UK club he has played for since leaving us, but has since gone back to Dundalk and is scoring for fun again. I guess we can all surmise what that says about the standard of the League of Ireland.

Re: Where eagles dare

I'm a big fan of Lopez. And only 16! I hope he isn't rushed in too quickly, but I think as he develops he will become a devastating player. Obika's pre-season scoring flatters to deceive. His goal at Aldershot was more a case of the ball rebounding off him than him scoring (although at least he was ...
