Re: Playoffs

There's a lot of this talk on the other side as well. Wycombe have just gone and won 4-1 away to a very much in-form Fleetwood side and missed a penalty to boot. They may not be pretty but they are effective. The final is also a one-off game and there's a lot of luck in football. Form from 3 months...

Re: Playoffs

Can't disagree about Woodburn. I don't remember the Sky commentators even mentioning his name until he was subbed. I didn't think James Henry really got into it either, apart from set pieces, where his balls into the box were generally very good (ooh matron!). Dickie and Elliott were massive for us...

Re: Playoffs

I’ve used Now TV in the past for F1 and cricket. Less so for football as I have little interest in watching games on the box that are of little or no relevance to OUFC. I’ll be surprised and disappointed if season ticket holders, who relinquished their rights to refunds under the very short and poor...

Re: Furlough

You're probably right about the TV deals. But there's no reason iFollow revenues can't become significant. Andy Holt, the Accrington chairman, has gone into quite a bit of detail on Twitter about the problems with iFollow revenues. At the moment, when a viewer pays to watch a game, that revenue goe...

Re: Furlough

Am I correct in thinking that if one is furloughed it inhibits (legally) your ability to do a job- eg, you’re not allowed to do any part of your job. If so how do footballer in the furlough scheme train? That’s correct, except for company directors performing minimum duties to maintain company lega...

The big question is, do we have the right in the rental agreement to play games there in the summer? If not we might be left ‘homeless’ if we need to play the remainder of our home league games in, say July.
There is nothing in the license preventing matches being played during the summer.

If anyone knows, does that mean the club won't owe any rent for this period of time, or is it still ticking up but not being paid?
As the country has been placed in a national emergency, it does mean the club won't be paying rent. Nor do they have access to the stadium.

Re: Kassam rental agreement

Do you mean generally, or for COVID19?

The license fee is normally payable quarterly in advance on calendar quarters.

The license has a Force Majeure clause, which includes a national emergency, and the Force Majeure period releases the club of its obligations under the license for that period.

Anyway, I think Wycombe would be 3rd judged on points per game.
Jeez, can this year get any worse?
Yes, Slumdon could get promoted!

Re: The C-word

The PL has put out an interesting idea, which is basically promotion for anyone presently in an automatic spot, but no relegation. Then at the end of next season, the number of relegation places is increased to return the divisions to their regular number the following season. This would mean few t...

Re: The C-word

I can’t deny that the longer we go without following WHO advice, the more nervous I get about the UK approach. It’s not just about herd immunity though, it is about timing the advice to gain maximum benefit and avoid social fatigue amongst other issues. There are times when certainty is so important...

Re: The C-word

Italy tested everyone coming in on planes and it did them no good. They have been aggressively testing as many as possible. The result has been over 6% mortality in Italy, compared to just over 1% in the UK. Testing won't stop the spread, because by the time people show symptoms, they will already ...
