Re: Bolton Bury'd

The solution would have been to prevent Bolton from signing new players for the season. Not sure what sort of a solution that is. With no other players coming in, you would be condemning a small group of mainly kids to getting stuffed most weeks. Not sure how practical it would be, but a 'better' o...

Re: Bolton Bury'd

Those first five games are bringing up some discussion at the top of the table. Ipswich have been gifted a +5 on goal difference for their win vs Bolton, which could be crucial at the end of the season. I'm not sure there's much anyone can do about it though. Also Football Ventures (Whites) Limited...

That's Zamouri

Another winger joins the ranks. Ossouma Zamouri. The chants will be predictable.

Re: Where are they now?

Dean Saunders has been jailed after he admitted failing to comply with a roadside breath test and failing to provide a breath sample for analysis. The 55-year-old was stopped on suspicion of drink-driving by police in Boughton, Chester, on 10th May. He pleaded guilty by letter on Tuesday and was se...

Re: Bolton Bury'd

So Bury buried but Bolton not buried. In the run up to our match at Bolton it will be interesting to see who they sign and what squad they assemble. We might play them before they are all match fit and gelled but with another points deduction to come for cancelling the Donny match (?) they could ha...

Re: Bolton Bury'd

Feeling bad for staff and supporters of Bury FC.

I hope there will now be a supporter led club forming from the ashes, and if possible allowing the transfer of the Bury FC name to the new set up.

Dale has been a disaster for the club.

Re: League Cup 3rd Round Draw

That is astonishing re the prize money. Even the RogueTrader/Checkatrash/Fleecing.com Trophy has prize money from the sponsorship fund.

Where is the sponsorship money for the League Cup?

I can now see us getting near to the play offs.
If near means within about ten places of them, I concur. Sorry - just got home from watching Burton run us ragged.

Re: Burton...

Burton had done their homework on us. They knew how we play through the centre, and on to the wide men for crosses into the box. They knew if we pushed too many forward at a time, it leaves big holes in the centre. So they closed down very quickly on our ball players, giving little space for any cre...

Re: Bolton

Seems strange they're allowed to call their own games off for 'welfare' reasons. Does that mean any struggling club with some injury problems in deep mid-winter who don't fancy an away game at the runaway leaders can cry off on welfare grounds? No doubt they will get a further points deduction for ...

Re: Bolton

Also, I'm not sure blaming the fans, or suggesting they've brought it on themselves is particularly fair unless you have some actual evidence. Especially given we're very much at the mercy of our owners here, what did we lose last financial year - was it £2million? Given all the winding up orders w...

Re: Bolton

Suspend them would mean they go bust though surely, which means no club and lots of people out of a job - all for "competitive balance". I think it's better to give them every chance to turn it round, which is surely what we'd expect if it was us. I'm all for giving them every chance, but...

Re: George Thorne

I also noticed he has the same agent as KR... wasn’t it Kardiff Exile who recent wrote: “Call me old-fashioned, but I feel uneasy about our manager being represented by an agent who also represents an OUFC player (Dickie). That strikes me as a conflict of interest.” Sounds like he knows what he's t...

Re: Where are they now?

Big feature on Mark Ashton's role at Bristol City https://www.bristolpost.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/mark-ashton-what-its-like-3195183 It's all in the past now, but Ashton leaving OUFC in Jan 2016 did seem to be the start of the end of the good times under Eales/Ashton/Appleton, although we...
