Re: New signings

In better news - excellent tying one of our own up to a very long contract. With a very good striker I think we would have an excellent team.

Re: When...

Not yet, not for a long time. 9 league matches in gives a good indication of where a team is likely to end up. However, given the number of new additions, the number of young players who will take time to get used to the pace and our two best players being out injured (awful luck), even if we're sti...

Re: Tykes thumping

Worst opening away day result in our history? Certainly for as long as I can remember. All this ah yes but its Barnsley so it is to be expected is a load of nonsense. We're in the same division as them for goodness sake - not like we're playing a better team a league above us in the cup (in fact we ...

Re: Oxford Cty

Whilst we are talking City, what happened to the Oxford Football Partnership between Oxford United and Oxford City, which I think ended up being between Ensco (i.e. Eales's company) and City according to Companies House? http://www.oxfordmail.co.uk/sport/oxfordunited/15300400.Oxford_United_and_Oxfo...

Paul Beasley

I would just like to say thanks to Paul for providing a comprehensive and more importantly interesting and fun write up of this seasons shenanigans. I got the impression from the last one that he was questioning his sanity in writing up the games. I question my sanity for attending any game Oxford l...

Re: Going Down??

Ian McGuckin, Lee Jarman, John Robertson, Manny Omoyinmi ... Parallels with Tiendalli, Van Kessel, Mehmeti, Piekalski ... I dunno I think that first list contain some of the worst players I've seen pull on a yellow shirt who didn't come from or go onto better things. In the second list you have ful...

Re: Managerial Merry-go-round

Nov 7th - Michael Appleton takes over at Blackpool leaving the sinking ship at Pompey without a captain. BTW - when I checked the other day former U's man Lee Bradbury was the favourite to take over (despite only just taking the helm at Havant & Waterlooville). BTW2 - Di Canio (along with Redkna...

Re: Going Down??

This is going to sound odd but I'm a bit disappointed about today. Yes we were great and a much needed three points but nearly every other result went against us and we haven't pulled away from the drop zone. This was one of our more winnable games and the likes of Rochdale had tougher ones so I was...

Re: Going Down??

No offence taken OY - I hope you're all better now. I've actually agreed with much of what you've written of late (not very interesting to just post something saying I agree though!) but I do think that although under Pep we had some shocking performances, we also had some quality ones as well - Pbo...

Re: Going Down??

The rewriting of history by those on here who wanted Pep out is reaching ridiculous levels. The way we played against Fleetwood was the best we have played since September/October? Really? Losing one nil at home against a team that has struggled all season had a better performance than: - Pboro 1 - ...

Re: Going Down??

I would add to that list getting rid of Pep in the first place. He managed to get more out of this team than Faz or Robinson with less resources as well. If you take a look at Rochdale's run in (4 games out of 6 at home and a away game at ours), Oldhams and AFC Wombles I would argue we are favourite...

Re: Karl Robinson

What's the evidence that this wasn't Tigers first choice all along - if anything the evidence suggests otherwise. We couldn't appoint him until he had left Charlton - hence the delay. Other names in the frame (or at least with the bookies) were available and if they had been first choice they could ...

Re: Who do you want next?

Perhaps another way of looking at it is that despite having a team of duffers and injury prone players Pep got us playing some sublime stuff at times and we were always in touch with the play offs - much better than Apps first season in charge in a lower league. I very much doubt any of his signings...

Re: When do we start panicking?

We did panic - we sacked our manager when we were 3 points off the play offs. We would have had three fewer points now if Pep had stayed. Our wheels were off ages ago. Not sure how you work that one out - we're now on our joint worst run of the season. LAst time we lost three in a row we followed i...
