Re: Bolton Bury'd

I was thinking about the whole of football finance and how you stop clubs getting into financial difficulties in the first place. I don't think increasing the share of EPL money in general would help, however how about? Absolute salary cap by division eg £5M in L1, £2M in L2. No sale of land and bui...

Another one for the "never heard of him, but claims a link with Oxford United" group. If anyone does remember this guy, please comment with some details of when, what level and for how long etc. Former coach Matt Bisceglia joins Pitt-Greensburg. https://triblive.com/sports/westmoreland-campus-clippi...

Re: Bolton Bury'd

Those first five games are bringing up some discussion at the top of the table. Ipswich have been gifted a +5 on goal difference for their win vs Bolton, which could be crucial at the end of the season. I'm not sure there's much anyone can do about it though. Also Football Ventures (Whites) Limited,...

Coventry harder

Well that game had everything for a neutral supporter. United go a goal down, then hit the post from outside the box, and the resulting clearance is chased upfield for a second goal. As on Tuesday, we get one back, and then are gifted an own goal by Coventry. So it's 2-2 with five minutes of added t...

Apparently we are number 57 in the top divisions for shirt sales, which works out at 13th in League 2, so just one place behind our actual finish last season.

Re: Bolton Bury'd

It sounds to me like Day was the disaster for Bury, doubly followed up by Dale. It seems Dale's daughter's partner was buying the club's debt for a very cheap price something like £70k for £7M of debt, and then hoping to get 25% paid off by someone buying the club and paying off the CVA.

Re: League Cup 3rd Round Draw

One day I should try and get a list done of what is available to clubs on top of their own ticket sales:- EPL solidarity payments; Prize money for League Cup, Trophy, FA Cup; Share of gate receipts for the cups; TV money for being shown as a league game; TV money for the cups, and whether as a live ...

Re: Bolton

Back to Bury, I haven't really followed the detail. So property developer Stewart Day sold the club in December 2018 for £1 to Steve Dale. The club was heavily in debt and under a CVA. But nobody would take on paying off the CVA and funding the club.

Also who now owns Gigg Lane?

Re: More Grizzle at Rovers

Worst away end in the league without a doubt. Gillingham: " Hold my beer " Newport: " Hold my beer " Macclesfield: " Hold my beer " I know that we're basically debating the difference between shit and shite, but my point is that it's a crowded field - which, oddly enough, would still be a nicer van...

Well that was hot. At least the catering hut was giving away free cups of tap water, though if I was being mean I'd say it was only because they'd sold out of £2 bottled water.
