Re: Have I Got Old News For You

Not really on topic, but a Rushden fan is replaying Championship Manager 01/02 and they are playing Oxford in the Vans trophy, Southern Leg. Some names to remember.

Re: Tiger sales

Thohir is tied up with Indonesia election until mid April. I think it was pointed out that he had also sold Inter Milan shares to partly repay debt and equity. If this rumour is true, hopefully it means Tiger's involvement is limited to that of middleman.

Re: Why are the bookies so confident...

Looking at the form table, the bottom three don't look like they have it in them to get out of the relegation places, Bristol Rovers perhaps can do though. I guess there's also the remaining opponents for all the eight teams on 39 to 41 points. Perhaps some of them have a tougher run in?

Re: Which would you choose?

My view is that anyone wanting to do a proper project with OUFC needs at least £25 million spare to sort out the stadium and running the club. Or else they need to factor in losing anywhere from £1million to £2million a year. Eales had his exceptional two years of player sales and cup runs, but left...

Re: Which would you choose?

It does also make it a lot more certain that Tiger's plans involve some sort of stadium and land deal. As someone else said, the club does seem to be doing well supporting the U-23s and U-18s teams, we are signing players like Sykes with potential to sell on, which you wouldn't necessarily bother wi...

Re: Which would you choose?

Even if club and stadium were reunited under common ownership, the stadium only makes around £500K per year, and adding back the rent the club wouldn't be paying still leaves under £1million to subsidise the football side of matters. The danger is that Tiger's history is of asset stripping a ground ...

Re: You're winding me up!

One thing I don't understand is that I didn't get the usual news alert for the winding-up petition, which trawls the UK courts feed. So the first three I got an alert about a day after the court petition was issued. I believe the process then is that there is a period of time of at least seven days ...

Re: Which would you choose?

Well you can see the stadium was a means to an end for Kassam, giving him the surrounding land. Getting crowds down low enough enabled him to get the cinema open all week round. Keeping hold of it means that nobody else gets to asset strip it. Whether by demolishing the whole lot and building houses...

Re: January Transfer Window

I've no idea how accurate this is, but when quizzed by a fan directly after the Brentford FA Cup game, Robinson apparently said only a couple of players were "his" signings. He strikes me as a bit like Wilder who loved his loan signings of experienced players or decent players with a bit of an injur...

Re: You're winding me up!

Its not just case of the club having working capital, if it were that simple, a well run club would say it needs for instance a million in cash at the start of January each year, and then would have sufficient cash to pay bills as they arise, even allowing for factors such as Football League solidar...
