Re: January Transfer Window

Honest question: has it ever? Derek Lilley 12 goals from 61 appearances. So probably not. Hemmings is probably as close as we came in terms of goals scored, but I cannot recall his goals that often being critical to the outcome of matches. Given the two-way movement of players between the Scottish ...

Re: January Transfer Window

https://www.hitc.com/en-gb/2018/12/10/hibs-and-english-trio-target-dundees-nabi/ This is a striker we are being linked with. On the centre back question, Raglan looked really good when he got a run in the team previously, and I believe he played well when used in a recent cup match. Also, how is Ke...

Re: Just how desperate for a striker are we???

KY - killing two children IS worse than playing toy guns. And letting teammates down. I also think personally that drink driving is in and of itself so disgustingly bad, because it is so utterly selfish and creates a situation where things can go that badly wrong, because of how big and dangerous ca...

Re: Just how desperate for a striker are we???

I agree Otmoor. Given what KR has said in earlier interviews, I think a contract with clauses about participating in the club's community work, and a release clause should he transgress, would be perfectly reasonable. Alternatively, pay to play would deliver much the same outcome. Luke McCormick was...

Re: Managerial Merry-go-round

Rumour-mill update on Notts County given the OUFC links - word on the street is that negotiations with Appleton took place but broke down (no idea what over, assuming this rumour to be true). The current list of possibles includes a number of former managers - including Shaun Derry.

Re: Gilly golly gosh

I am with KY on this. Bradford will bring an end to a run of games against teams down around us and whilst we have done OK, that is the best that can be said. Thinking about that short spell against Scunthorpe when I could not believe what I was seeing, that does not bode well for when we come up ag...

Re: You're winding me up!

Quite! Apparently Thohir's arrival was known about back in the Spring: https://www.witneygazette.co.uk/sport/17211563.erick-thohir-is-a-game-changer-for-oxford-united-says-karl-robinson/ Just a thought - is the latest HMRC winding up order a sign that actually, behind the scenes, Tiger is not the on...

Kamara - thanks. I knew it was someone who was now a pundit on Sky. And I get easily confused nowadays - must go and put the kettle on.

Re: So when exactly...

I agree with Radley Rambler, but with one more positive to add - we now have two cup games to get that feels-like-a-defeat out of the system before the serious business starts again.

Re: So when exactly...

I don't remember Us ever losing from 3-0 up, though I do remember Us winning from 3-0 down: https://www.rageonline.co.uk/mainpage/fixture/1985-11-23/ That Torquay game is the only other time I remember Us giving away a 3 goal lead, though I might well be wrong. Wasn't that one of our Setanta games?...

Nice Birthday Present

I was determined to find a title for this thread that avoided reference to Shakespearean plays and small rodents. Anyway, so we once again got three points and kept a clean sheet against a very poor side. But after the first few weeks of the season it is nice to see us putting these games to bed. In...

Re: Summer news

For sure greed is involved, but what makes me so angry is the arrogance. In the Plymouth programme Tiger wrote: "Actually, I don’t know if I need to ask that because the support has been fantastic all season both at home and away. You travel in numbers, you encourage and try to drive the team forwar...

Re: Pilgrims Progress

4) Finally, several key players put in a decent shift in the same game. When Henry is in that mood, he can be almost unplayable. The turn he executed to get away from two defenders and ultimately set up Mackie for the opener was superb. Holmes was outstanding - finally playing for us like he (and to...
