Meanwhile, and possibly entirely coincidentally, we are looking at an attacking winger...

Re: Stadium (again) - fans forum

Or maybe their involvement is simply because you do not have to go far from the city centre to find yourself in the territory of the county council, rather than the city council??

Re: Summer transfers 2019

Reports have emerged today about a £2m bid from Nottingham Forest for Gavin Whyte. The report comes from the Belfast Telegraph. As far as I can tell, for now the Nottingham Post is repeating what the Telegraph has reported, rather than having any inside information from The City Ground.

Re: LEAGUE ONE 2019-2020

Although it is unlikely to be a new ground for many (even I have been there), I hear that Coventry City are in 'advanced talks' with Birmingham City to ground-share for next season. This person suggested that Cov fans will be even less impressed with this idea second time around. If this happens, i...

Re: Summer transfers 2019

Berkoe looks like one with potential for development. Not sure why just a 1 year deal though as that suggests less than full confidence in the signing. An alternative interpretation is that there is uncertainty as to how players at that age will actually develop to their potential (just see how man...

(Not) Retained List

https://www.banburycake.co.uk/sport/17629778.oxford-united-release-five-senior-players/ Neither disappointment nor surprise with this list, methinks. I can only assume that Smith was given a chance but did not do enough to be kept on. As for Kelleher, presumably the same goes for him. But why sign h...

Re: OUFC's weirdest ever tweet

I have no problem at all with Tiger expressing his support for the new monarch. Why, though, was it felt necessary to bring the club and its staff into this message?

Re: Chris Wilder

Given the situation we were in, why was he (IIRC) offered a one year rolling contract? I'm pretty sure you don't recall correctly. If I rcc, Wilder had been on a rolling contract, but Lenagan gave him a 1-year fixed contract at the beginning of his last season with Us instead. I pointed out at the ...

Re: You're winding me up!

Anyone else anticipating a club statement in a week or so regarding the ownership of Oxford United? It's long been rumoured that Erick Thohir is the likely chairman in the long-term and that Sumrith Thanakarnjanasuth will make a quick buck from his brief tenure and then ride off into the sunset. Th...

Re: Chris Wilder

For me, the critical issue is the one aspect of the saga that has not been mentioned yet - his contract situation. My understanding is not that Northampton was intrinsically a better option, but that they made a longer contract offer which, in his situation, I think quite a few would have plumped fo...

Re: Robbed versus Rovers

We wuz robbed. Then again, if on some of our numerous other attacks our front players could have made better decisions about when to shoot and when to pass, those two bad decisions would have been utterly irrelevant. As it is, over the last few games with the pressure off, being able to watch our pl...

Re: Latic Intolerance

Actually Stevens made a double-save...sort-of. The initial shot he blocked with his left arm to take the pace off it (it would otherwise have flown into the net), then he still had the presence of mind to get up, look around and respond to the ball still heading goalwards. Phenomenal keeping. The qu...

Re: Safety in numbers

And how mad is it that the fans of a team starting the game in the top half of the table could sing 'we are staying up' at the end of the match. This is one crazy relegation battle but surely we are safe now. Got to say that throughout the first half, even from the other end of the ground, I felt th...

Re: WhyCom-plain

The fact of the matter is that Tiger (or whoever) is very unlikely to sack him. I think Robinson is capable of doing at least an OK job. What is more important in the medium term is finding a way to finance securely a competitive team. If we are talking about the medium term, then we need to bring ...
