Anyway, I think Wycombe would be 3rd judged on points per game.
Jeez, can this year get any worse?
Yes, Slumdon could get promoted!
What a great argument for rejecting my earlier suggestion.

Re: The C-word

The simple answer is that there is no simple answer. That said, as all of your options imply, the notion of actually completing the season is surely out of the window now. Another option to your three, equally difficult to contemplate, could be to take the tables as they stand and base promotion and...

Re: The C-word

This is worth a read, and it's a lecturer in virology, so not just "some bloke on the internet": https://theconversation.com/coronavirus-can-herd-immunity-really-protect-us-133583 This seems pretty clear to me on the dangers of pursuing a 'herd immunity' approach. Talk of implementing a different r...

Re: The C-word

Well the WHO seems to be on the same page as that one bloke on the internet as does most other European countries and the football bigwigs in this country who clearly have no faith in the advice given. https://www.itv.com/news/2020-03-12/robert-peston-how-risky-is-boris-johnsons-maverick-coronaviru...

Re: Freefall

Excellent results for us last night as well. Still I'm going to enjoy being third while I can - a fantastic effort from Robbo and the boys. When I was posting earlier on this thread, I hoped we could turn it around, but was not expecting the upturn in form we have seen of late. What I certainly did...

Re: Freefall

That was definitely a lot better. Wimbledon were appalling (looked a league below us), but we took advantage and played well. If we can avoid losing at Ipswich, then we've got half a chance of challenging for the top 6 again given the fixtures that follow. Looking at the goals on the highlights ree...

Re: Freefall

Otmoor - that can help explain Blackburn and Wigan - although the other examples I have given also confirm really bad management cannot be addressed simply with PL money. But the main point I was making was that neither Rotherham nor Peterborough have enjoyed the PL riches - just the additional weal...

Re: Freefall

Money has created a massive gulf between the 1st and 2nd divisions of English football. I am concerned that what we are now seeing is the impact of money opening up a gap between 2nd and 3rd. We have seen, in recent years, teams like Blackburn and Wigan come down but bounce straight back (I would ar...

Re: Bapxit Day

Just to play Devil's Advocate, whilst I think that another year at Oxford would have catapulted Baptiste into PL club range, our club's viability is based on taking and developing young players, then selling them on at a profit. Browne and Holland provide width, whilst a hopefully-fit-again Thorne, ...

Re: Newcastle Utd

Or Taylor on a permanent. This is an issue that seems to have escaped much comment or discussion in talking about who we could or should get in in January. Maybe we need Taylor and another striker - but can we afford that? I guess Taylor would not come cheap. Oh!: https://www.oxfordmail.co.uk/sport...

Re: Newcastle Utd

Interesting you focus on what an owner can get out of the club with TV revenues etc, Slappy - and quite appropriate too, I think. Unless it becomes another part of Saudi 'sportswashing', I cannot imagine a sovereign wealth fund having a model of pumping hundreds of millions into the club. Then again...

Re: Newcastle Utd

Given that our match is confirmed for the Tuesday and BBC's live match is scheduled for the Wednesday, I'm asuming the Beeb will be showing Spurs vs Saints and the best we can hope for is BT Sport. I wasn't counting on BBC1 shifting their schedule around to accomodate the Mighty Yellows of course. ...

Re: Newcastle Utd

From up in the gods, I got a real chance to see just what our shape looks like - and how well we kept it throughout. It says a lot about the limitations of NUFC that they lacked the nous to pull us about and force us out of that shape. Even though the possession stats were very much against us, when...
