Re: Welcome to the Minchery madhouse Mad Dog

IL should have come out, after the Torquay game and advised that ML is care taker manager until the end of the season. Thereafter, commence the recruitment process as he has done. If he's fortunate enough to find a better option for the run in and beyond, he could've announced that he's making a ch...

Re: Welcome to the Minchery madhouse Mad Dog

I think it important for IL to make an appointment as soon as possible (he has been looking for more than a month now and must be close to finding the right person) Disagree, sorry. The key is to get the whole team right pre-match and do the half time-talks and Lewis is the right man for the job un...

Re: Welcome to the Minchery madhouse Mad Dog

I think that we look weaker than under CW. We have started conceding late goals and giving away leads. Against relatively poor opposition we have not got the results we really needed to get into the automatic places which had to b the objective. I think it important for IL to make an appointment as ...

Re: Tonights Results

A win on Saturday and things would look pretty good :P

We would have to really blow it to not make the play offs as a minimum. Really surprising results for Fleetwood and Newport.

Mr Wilder, not surprisingly seems to have sorted Northampton out pretty quickly.

Re: The 12th Man initiative

What a shame. Trevor et al have spent a lot of time and effort raising all of that money. I have no idea about what is going on and the politics, but it can not be helping OUFC to lose people like Trevor. The 'United we Stand on the fixture lists and generally publicised seems to be a bit hollow in ...

Re: The Search For A New Manager Has Started!

I happen to agree with Steve regardless of what happens in the next 3 games. JC, Newey, Smalley and Rigg are some of those out of contract at the end of the season and whoever tales charge, having time to assess the players must be a good things. There seems to be no communication as to how the whol...

Re: Welcome to the Minchery madhouse Mad Dog

IL and his offspring would become the true Mad Dogs of Oxford United if he changed the manager now as thousands of people are putting in tentative entries into their diaries for the play-offs, a trip to Wembley and that May 3rd date with Chris Wilder. It’s now automatic or the lottery of the play-o...

Embarrassment of riches?

If as the OUFC website suggests we will shortly have most of the players fit, then suddenly up front we could have the choice of: Potter, Williams Smalley, Kitson, Connelly, Constable, Marsh Rigg, Ruffels (OK Ruffels is more of a midfield player but has been playing wide left), O'Dowda So which 4 sh...

Re: Newport away on New Years Day

I would think that this is putting a real strain on Newport's finances as possibly costing them a possibility of being in the play offs (I assume that the number of games in a short period of time will count against them) Another 2-3 postponements and surely the League must start pressing for a chan...

IL

Does anybody else feel pretty confident in the club's future with Il at the helm? I was just reading the news today and the news of the youth team. Josh Ashby on a 3 year contract having shone against Swansea and Cardiff (and how well did the youth team do against those 2 clubs who presumably spent ...

Re: Bury the opposition

[quote="SmileyMan"]Thoughts from last night: 2) Bevans and Ruffles are developing fast - obviously not first choice players yet, but they've gone from 'a bit of a gamble' to 'solid backup' with just a couple of games each. Under Wilder they'd have never had the chance - he'd have got loan ...

Re: Bury the opposition

I would say that the next 3 are really important in so far as they are all winnable and following this we have some pretty tough games.

If we can get some decent points in these next 3 games we could be in a very good position (with all of the rivals having tough games in this period)

It was in the Programme on Saturday so I expect that they took it from that!

Re: Win over the Wombles

Yes I agree with most of the comments above. We were pretty lucky to win though in my view. That miss in the 94th minute was terrible. I was just waiting for the net to bulge- but thankfully it went the wrong side of the post. It was a shame that Hunt misjudged the flight for their goal. An excellen...

Re: Who ya gonna call...?

I did not rate ML last time he was caretaker manager. Let's be fair, that was 15 years ago! I don't know what you do for a living, Paul, but I'd guess you're probably better at it now than you were 15 years ago - you probably have different ideas too about what works and what doesn't. I'm not sayin...
