Re:

ah but if halifax had better finishers they wouldn't be in the conference. plus exactly what clearcut chances did they have anyway? i think we could see from saturday that this season is going to be no free flowing footy carnival but a grind. halifax did not ever look like scoring. well, i read tha...

a good win, but had halifax had better finishers, i wonder if we would've been able to step up again. my disappointment was in trying to find our score in my sunday paper, and to see how our attendance fared against other conference sides. eventually on the opposite page to all the league, scottish ...

haven't we been here before? i remember seeing someone wearing an 'on loan to division three' shirt when we were relegated last time round. i wonder if it's been recycled by crossing out 'division three' and putting 'conference'? if we start scoring three more goals than our opposition week-in, week...

i'm not sure - boris' guess is probably about right. not all of them were manchester united supporters though. at the pompey game there were a few loudmouths taking things very seriously in front of us (honestly, in a friendly do we really need &quotyou'll never play this season&quot when lu...

first 15 minutes - a bit overawed perhaps, but in terms of the immediate build-up, there was very little you could have expected our team to do to stop those kind of moves and shots i thought? turley's slip excepted. again, very impressed with anaclet. burgess, as everyone has pointed out, was very ...

this was the first time i've seen the new squad play, and i was also left feeling okay about things. the team looked solid, and worked well as a unit i thought. anaclet was very impressive - good pace, a few tricks up his sleeve, decent cross, able to vary his tactics - and - comfortable on the ball...

sorry, and another thing: why offer him a three month contract at all if you're not going to let him play a first-team game and have a chance to prove himself? nothing's changed, the transfer deadline is where it was when the contract was offered.

i really don't understand this thinking.

Re:

Also disappointed at this. Mainly because of memories of his performance in the 'dead' game against Rochdale, where he looked like the best winger we've had for many a year. Well, since Beauchamp/Powell, anyway. Where exactly is the width coming from this season? From wing-backs by the looks of thi...

Re:

Cash ain't king of the Conference agreed. it wasn't for mcsporran. i note he's now at chester - similar level of football, and i would guess the money could well have been better at oxford. league status seems to count for a lot in my opinion. and i agree with what was said about needing someone to...

i note the oxford times doesn't report where or how the report is given, but it was reported as an 'executive summary' style report, ahead of the full report, so i took the findings as representative of his overall conclusions.

sorry, i should've added the connection between points 1 and 2:

&quotA lack of evidence and the passing of time meant that mr. burns could not conclusively prove [whether the council got the proper value for the land] and has given the Town Hall the benefit of the doubt.&quot

Re:

The only encouraging sign on this subject is that at least Smith appears to recognise we are short in this area, unlike certain previous incumbents. Snakey - don't forget Billy Beechers.... beechers could yet turn out to be our saving grace. however, i have to disagree about the point about recogni...
