Re: Robinson Out

We have played a lot of the teams at the top of the division and now have a run of teams in and around us. If these are as comfortable as Plymouth was we should start climbing the table. This is key. I'm pretty sure the next few games won't be as comfortable as Saturday (when the worst team in the ...

Re: Stadium (again) - fans forum

Well, now things are much clearer! https://www.oufc.co.uk/news/2018/october/statement/ I guess this is just a holding statement to try and deflect from the crap on the pitch. With the people who have recently become involved with the football club, I see no reason to be optimistic that we won't just...

Re: Not top

Taken in isolation, of course a draw at Roots Hall is always a reasonable result (I wasn't there so can't comment on the performance). But we can't really take any result in isolation now - we've left ourselves a lot of catching up to do and therefore need to over-perform for a bit to avoid getting ...

Re: Summer news

I'm not sure I agree. The 'three animals' look is a bit of a design car crash, in my view. But the main logo does look good. Not the most animals on a football shirt though apparently (even if they do think our lion is a dragon): https://www.theguardian.com/football/2018/oct/03/which-football-shirt...

Re: Robinson Out

Cameron Norman being forced to train with the kids I believe you, but is there a source for this? Disgraceful if so (and if based on performance alone rather than attitude etc). He's been a bit inconsistent, but he was MoTM against Burton and has looked far better at RB than McMahon. I was wonderin...

Re: Robinson Out

In general I'm not in favour of getting rid of managers who either are doing an ok (if unimpressive) job or haven't been given enough time. I didn't want Wilder to go, and when he did our form got worse not better. I didn't want Clotet to go - and again our form got worse not better when he was sack...

Re: City slickers

Robert Pires was in that same World Cup-winning squad (though didn't feature in the final), and played against us for Arsenal in 2003.

Re: City slickers

David Silva was a class above - is he the first world cup winner to play against us since Desailly when Mike Dean cheated us? How many world cup winners have we played against in our history - anyone know? Desailly and Lebeouf both played that night. The ref was Mike Reed. The reason I was so gutte...

Re: Stadium (again) - fans forum

- The 5 options is interesting and Niall has set an expectation of announcements in 4-5 weeks. This is a very reasonable timeframe and doesn't keep us hanging on with false hope. If of course that timescale comes and goes, we can ask probing questions. I had a 1-1 session with Niall afterwards and ...

City slickers

Well that went pretty much as expected. When seen close up, you do appreciate what a completely different planet of football City's players live on. Their speed of thought, movement and passing is something else. But is this just innate skill or coaching and set-up too? I wasn't overly impressed wit...

Re: Stadium (again) - fans forum

- The deliberate misinformation from the club about how much we are paying Firoka really doesn't help. As I understand it, the club does have grounds to query what they are being asked to pay in the service charge, but portraying the situation as we are being asked to pay £1m/year rent is daft. Ind...

Re: Stadium (again) - fans forum

- Firoz Kassam MUST play ball and waive any charges for us breaking the agreement if we move; if not, we'll take direct action against his assets; As a matter of interest, why? If some mega-rich new board members/owners are silly/visionary enough to pay Kassam off, then who cares? I can't say I feel...

Re: Stadium (again) - fans forum

The position seems to be that the rent we're being charged (£300,000?) seems reasonable, but the service charge has increased significantly over the years (to be fair so has the bills for my house) and the club are very limited in the money they can make from income from things like selling drinks....

Stadium (again) - fans forum

So did anyone go to the fans forum? Sounded pretty bizarre. Robinson using the stadium as an excuse for why we're so crap. Open hostility towards our landlord from all levels of the club hierarchy. The MD saying we are looking at five different options of places to play, none of which are the Kassam...

Roofe is on fire!

Two ex OUFC managers quoted at length too.
