Re: New signings

The Fail seems to be dating that story 16 July. Today is 17 July. Give KR a chance! It was online at 7am yesterday. I'm sure there was a similar story a couple of days before the squad flew to Ireland too. As KE says, we all understand that transfers take time these days (especially loans from PL/C...

Re: New signings

Cheers OY. I see that a player called Armani Little played (and scored a brace) against City. What is the world coming to? I also see that two attacking players did not join OUFC within 24 hours of KR saying this: http://www.oxfordmail.co.uk/sport/16355880.karl-robinson-expects-two-attacking-players...

Re: New signings

Michael Doughty (ex QPR and Peterborough) played in a friendly at Hampton and Richmond on Saturday and stays on trial for the week . Robinson said of him: “This was the first game he’s played and he’s not trained. He did OK, didn’t he? “He did better than anyone else in midfield, which says it all f...

I mean, it’s all pens and lucky deflections isn’t it...?!
Good thing penalties count isn't it? What's that, 4 hours of football without England scoring a goal from open play?

It's coming home!

Re: Retained list

I wondered whether we'd hear Kelleher's name mentioned any time soon - a quick scan of the Solihull Moors forum the other day (yes yes, too much time on my hands) suggests he has very much failed to set the world alight there. His contract runs until summer 2019 though, so I'd imagine he'll either ...

Re: Harry Kane vs Rob Duffy

So England changed the personnel but showed the same weaknesses - profligacy in front of goal, defenders backing off opposition players running towards and into the box, not blocking crosses (or shots in the case of the goal). And a central midfielder who seems to think it's rugby and he's not allow...

Re: Harry Kane vs Rob Duffy

Completely different sports though - there are natural breaks between every single ball of a cricket match, whereas the flow of football (and a potentially crucial incident) could be interrupted by a tactical VAR 'appeal'. From what I've seen of it in rugby it works better (although not perfectly). ...

Re: Harry Kane vs Rob Duffy

That's something else that's annoyed me about this tournament. They've got VAR but they let teams get away with blatant (and I mean really blatant) holding in the area, while punishing highly debatable handballs and genuine attempts to play the ball. England-Panama was the first time that a ref has ...

Re: Harry Kane vs Rob Duffy

Ah a world cup thread - why not? Nice to see England off to a good start, but I don't actually think we've played particularly well so far. Pressing a team in their own half is all well and good (and to be admired), but against Tunisia we sat off them as soon as they crossed the halfway line and gav...

Re: Predictions

Making predictions is a mug's game... so here goes. I don't share OY's optimism. Not one bit. Karl Robinson talks a good game, and is clearly competent, but I don't think he's as good as many fans think. He's also not (so far, at least) signed players who immediately make me think he can impr...

Re: Summer news

Yes, I can't say that sentences like this set my pulse racing: “If we can be exposed to South-East Asia which accounts for 600 million people, that’s a big market that we can play with. “The key is setting the brand alight and to show the Asian people that not only the Premier League teams can be as...

Re: Fixtures

The time of year when I'm reminded how far I live from any football hotbeds! Mixed feelings in my desire to visit new grounds. The dates for Fleetwood, Accrington and Blackpool aren't very enticing for a trip to the North West. Likewise Doncaster - no chance of making that. Sunderland and Coventry l...

This version definitely looking bluer: https://pbs.twimg.com/media/Dfq9n65X4AAYVAz.jpg:large That's a much better picture - not sure why the original article had such a poor image. Sponsor's logo is too big for me - don't mind the writing but the lion can shrink to at least half its size. Back to e...

Summer news

So we've got a (fairly impressive) first team coach , new kit supplier and club sponsor - sorry, 'partner' . Thai, obviously. But the most intriguing article on the club website is this: https://www.oufc.co.uk/news/2018/june/esports/ Wtf? And why it is billed as news without any explanation? Is it j...
