Re: Who do you want next?

I've already said elsewhere that I'd give it to Chrissy Allen and Faz until the end of the season to show what they can do. There is absolutely no reason in my view to rush to make an appointment now. If we sign a couple of experienced battlers and get the dressing room back onside, there is no dang...

Re: Pep Booted

Don't underestimate what Eales might have thought of the "shushing". Whatever your view of Eales, he's made a concerted effort over the years to build a healthy and positive relationship with the fans (yes, hot dogs and all). If he was in two minds about Pep's future, seeing him potentially wreck th...

Re: When do we start panicking?

I was flabbergasted that the London Road thought it was appropriate to sing Maguire's name loudly (the only time they were loud in fact) whilst the game was in progress including when he was attacking our goal! By all means give him a warm welcome before the game but not when the match has started ...

Re: When do we start panicking?

Jesus. A four hour round trip in the freezing cold for that... A few thoughts: 1) Werthers Original is right that we don’t have enough players who are either tough enough to boss a match against a team like Bury or professional enough to kill a game like that off. That is predominantly the fault of ...

Re: No more Payne

Back to the Payne situation, and here's a question: If a club agrees a 'season-long' loan for a player, is it reasonable for the parent club to recall him during that loan just to send him out again somewhere else? I could understand it if we weren't giving him enough game time and/or didn't rate h...

'Uddersfield have exercised the clause allowing Payne to be recalled early. One imagines that OUFC were aware of this like...

Re: Where are they now?

In less-welcome news of former U's employees, some shocking allegations of racism have been made against Graham Rix by youngsters who were coached by him at Chelsea.

Also linked with Man City youngster Buckley-Ricketts, on a loan deal:- http://www.hitc.com/en-gb/2018/01/11/por-city-starlet-buckley-ricketts-set-for-oxford-loan/ Now confirmed . Sounds like a very welcome and much-needed injection of pace into the squad. My one question would be whether he'll be s...

Re: Stadium matters

Statements about wanting to protect OUFC future by handing over the reins only to particular people are meaningless hogwash for delaying tactics and are clearly shown to be by the other comments that he is not a charity but a commercial organisation Quite. If a consortium of Darth Vader, Dr Evil an...

Re: Stadium matters

Today's Oxford Mail carries a lengthy story on the latest showdown between the council and Firoz Ka££am. My reading of it: - Bob Price wants to ensure his legacy notes his commitment to working for OUFC's long-term future; - At the same time, he know he stands a snowball in hell's chance of getting ...

Re: Simon Eastwood

The social media rumour mill suggests Eastwood will be off to Barnsley and we'll be signing Freddie Woodman (son of Andy) on loan from Newcastle until the end of the season. I have literally no idea whether either of those things are likely or whether they're just a figment of an under-stimulated te...

Re: Where are they now?

A crowdfunding page has been set up to raise money for Paul Moody, who apparently is suffering from health issues and is down on his luck. I'm sure we'd all wish him a swift recovery and a healthy dollop of good fortune.

Re: New signings

Stumbled across this the other day whilst looking for something else: I am told by someone genuinely itk that Mowatt is a bit of a Dan Crowley - plenty of talent, but problems with discipline. Got himself sent off on his Barnsley debut, and none too popular in South Yorkshire. Mowatt has been a peri...

Re: When do we start panicking?

I mostly agree with KY. We had a rough December, but we were playing some exceptional teams. This month, we have a few games against relative dross (Franchise, Bury etc) which - if we win them - will cement our mid-table position. The Wigan result was an aberration, and we shouldn't read too much in...

Re: The Road to Wigan Pier

But having brought in several players, some of whom are simply not up to the job (Xemi being but the most obvious example), presumably on one-year contracts Like you, I thought that many of the last-minute bargain bin import purchases were only for the one season. Incredibly though, Xemi is on a th...
