Re: Man City

What we did last time. Give it our best shot, but once Man City have sauntered to a 2-0 lead, we plead with Mr Guardiola for a non-aggression pact whereby we won't injure any of his starlets as long as they don't humiliate us!

Re: Where are they now?

Former double loanee defender (five games for Us in 2000 and another six in 2003) and now very successful manager of UWIC Cardiff Met, Christian Edwards, suffers a heart attack in training. Nice bloke by all accounts - get well soon, Christian.

Re: Play up Pompey

So long as we sell out to home fans, I couldn’t give a flying firoz about away fans. Give ‘em the minimum allocation, always. Never understand this mentality. Do as you would be done by, otherwise you have no right to complain when we're given a lousy allocation and charged £25 to stand on a crumbl...

Re: Have I Got Old News For You

My local rag here in Cardiff has an interview with Wales starlet Ben Woodburn , reflecting on what he's learnt over the last few years. Most relevant bit to Us: "I have learned so much at Oxford this season, knowing I am able to play 90 minutes and keep fighting for the team. I have taken a lot of k...

Re: Doncaster Rovers

Oh and I do wish callers into RadOx would stop telling the Board to back Robinson. What do they think the Board has been doing?! Six changes and we still stuff West Ham. Six major players missing with injuries yesterday and we still put out a team like that. In the period of two or three subs and m...

Re: Hammer Time

If I was ranking them, I'd come up with something broadly similar, except for the fact that I'd have the Wycombe game much higher up. I know it lacked the high-profile opponent of the cup games, but in terms of matches that mattered in our history and of games that made our god-awful stadium feel li...

A quick question: Did Thorne come off because he was injured?
Yeah, bad arm injury apparently. Don't know any more than that.

Edit: dislocated shoulder, apparently. You've got to feel for the bloke, he clearly has bad luck with injuries.

Re: Hammer Time

Highlights here . Some fine goals in there, especially Baptiste's. Sykes' cross for Taylor's is also the sort of the thing that gives centre forwards wet dreams. PS: whilst looking at the BTL comments about the game on the Guardian website, I saw this by one of our own from RageOnline. Made me chuc...

Re: Sincil Bank - Operation Yellowhammer

Incredible result, and one that begs the question: how good are we? Ten league games in, and we can usually start to deduce something. At this point last season , we were second bottom and I was calling for Robinson's head . Today, we sit 12th with a decidedly mid-table record of W3 D3 L4. As Oxblog...

Re: Wirral Oxford

Enjoy, Otmoor - it's a cracking ground. I went there a few years back when we won 2-0, and it was fabulous afterwards to hear all the Bolton fans bemoaning how far they'd fallen, losing at home to "the likes of bloody Oxford". After years of being humbled by Conference sides, it was nice to feel tha...

Re: Where are they now?

Dean Saunders has been jailed after he admitted failing to comply with a roadside breath test and failing to provide a breath sample for analysis. The 55-year-old was stopped on suspicion of drink-driving by police in Boughton, Chester, on 10th May. He pleaded guilty by letter on Tuesday and was sen...

Re: More Grizzle at Rovers

I'll forgive (to some extent) poor facilities if there's enough else around the ground to make for a good day out. Brizzle has plenty of good pubs on the Gloucester Road to make pre-match enjoyable, Newport and Accy both have a great Sam Smith's* pub within walking distance. Harder to mount a defenc...

Re: More Grizzle at Rovers

Worst away end in the league without a doubt. Gillingham: " Hold my beer " Newport: " Hold my beer " Macclesfield: " Hold my beer " I know that we're basically debating the difference between shit and shite, but my point is that it's a crowded field - which, oddly enough, would still be a nicer van...

Re: Where are they now?

Former OUFC defender (79 appearances between 1988 and 1990) Jimmy Phillips is in temporary charge at Bolton Wanderers following the resignation of Phil Parkinson. If the protracted takeover continues to drag on, it wouldn't surprise me at all if that becomes a longer-term appointment. Can't see too ...

Re: Bolton

Jimski, I think we'd all agree with those sentiments. The difficulty though is that Bury in particular may be simply unable to complete (or, technically, commence) their season whilst Bolton will be doing so with one arm tied behind their back, and it then falls to the Football League to deal with t...
