Re: M40

Good luck, folks, wherever and however you’re following matters tomorrow. I’m trying to be blasé about it, but I can’t fail to be excited by the chance for Oxford to get back up to Div 2, given our relatively modest crowds, ground and recent history. Whether I’d enjoy watching us play at such a leve...

Or simply tune into Talksport 2.
Pfft, away with you and this talk of commercial radio! I’m combining the trip with a long-awaited, socially-distanced family visit, I should probably clarify!

Re: Playoffs

Well I wasn’t at the game yesterday, Jerome, because of bloody social distancing measures, but I listened to your commentary and I thought it was a flippin’ good result... Very happy with that. Both sides looked rusty, but us particularly in the first 20 minutes, and I thought Portsmouth had a great...

Re: Playoffs

In a remarkably serendipitous move, the Welsh Government have indicated they’ll be relaxing travel restrictions on Monday 6 July, meaning I can travel more than five miles from my house on the day of our second playoff leg. So I can drive to Oxford, visit family and listen to proceedings on Radio Ox...

Re: Playoffs

I fear I'm repeating myself , but I've never paid to watch football on telly and won't be starting now. I'm sure Now TV relatively affordable, but it's a matter of principle. This struck a chord with me: I'm fairly ambivalent about wanting Us to go up. What's the point having more glamorous fixtures...

Playoffs

Bit surprised it's not been given a standalone thread! What do we think then, folks? Are we excited? Nervous? A bit flat? For me, it's a combination of all three. Any playoff which we've reached without the thrill of the normal end of season leading up to it feels devoid of narrative. In a normal se...

Re: Furlough

All good points, KY. I don't pretend for a moment that there are any easy answers here, and nor do I pretend to answer for anyone but myself (and indeed acknowledge that I'm probably an outlier in my views). All I can do is speak for myself and say that live football for me is exactly that - somethi...

Re: Furlough

So there should be an opportunity to get some more revenue there (and maybe even share it more evenly if more matches are broadcast) Highly sceptical of that. I confidently predict any TV deal will make the rich clubs richer whilst the smaller clubs rely on iFollow revenues (which will be a fractio...

Re: Kassam rental agreement

The big question is, do we have the right in the rental agreement to play games there in the summer? If not we might be left ‘homeless’ if we need to play the remainder of our home league games in, say July. Don’t the English Football League insist that clubs have “primacy of tenure” - ie, that if ...

Re: The C-word

I suspect they may just end up merging the 2019/20 and 2020/21 seasons - ie, suspend things now until the autumn/winter and play the remaining fixtures then, supplementing things with a one-off extra cup competition if there's a need to fill some weekends.

Re: The C-word

Football League games now off. Excellent news for those of us who were annoyed that we weren't able to get to many of our games in March / April!

Re: Freefall

I can't help but feel his frustration is misplaced. By his own admission, we were unlucky rather than tight-fisted in the transfer window. He said in a recent interview that we made a huge (record?) offer for Chris Cadden but the selling club wouldn't budge, that we made a huge offer for the Scottis...

Portman Pleasures

Well I was there on Saturday, Jerome, and I thought it was a bloody good day out! Like many others in the away end, that was my first trip to Portman Road, and I was very impressed by the stadium. It felt like a proper old ground whilst at the same time boasting all mod cons and being in the middle ...

Re: Freefall

Don't disagree with any of the concerns above about our financial sustainability and "the stadiumsituation". Clear questions for the board to answer on both fronts. But as far as our on-field performance is concerned, it might be instructive to revisit the thread I started back in August where we al...

That’s that then. Our old friend the undisclosed fee.

I’d expect us to push a couple of deals over the line between now and the deadline - just hope one of them’s a right back.
