Re: Another loss...

On a superficial level, I don't really care about a loss in the Spot A Scab cup. However, one cannot ignore the following: - The excuses around injuries no longer wash. Of our 'big' players, only Rob Hall is now still in the physio's room. Some of the others may be working their way back to full fit...

Re: Oxford Cty

Ty - just to reiterate, I wasn't having a pop. It's just interesting that Oxford City look set be a beneficiary of his largesse for many years to come whereas we could soon conceivably be in the same division as we were when he took over, still without a ground of our own and still not in a sustaina...

Re: Oxford Cty

Confirmed. It was all Darryl's and now it's all City's ... http://www.oxfordcityfc.co.uk/news/club-statement-sunday-7th-october-2355021.html Interesting. Three thoughts arise from this: 1) Presumably this ends any real partnership between the two clubs now, beyond the fact that City let some of our...

Re: Not top

I wanted to let the dust settle before giving a view on the game (are you reading, Karl? you should give it a try!). As you’d expect from a goalless draw away from home, it was a mixed bag. A point and a clean sheet are welcome, and as Oxblogger has written , it’d be churlish not to acknowledge the ...

Re: Robinson Out

Recordmeister - yes, but surely the chairman can also see that not sacking KR will make him look worse. We all make mistakes, there's no shame there - doubling down on those mistakes in the face of all available evidence is what makes people lose faith in you.

Re: Robinson Out

I’m not going to claim Obika is a good striker BUT his limitations are exposed by the lack of any other half-decent options. In a normal squad at Div 3 level for a reasonable side, I’d expect to see four strikers. You’d have two good ones who start most games (or rotate if you’re playing a lone stri...

Lots of ifs, but if the rumour of a take-over is credible, is it possible that KR thinks or suspects that he is on his way whatever?

Re: Robinson Out

I agree completely with RR above. Apart from being (mildly) unlucky with injuries, the problems are entirely of KR's own making. On Otmoor Yellow's post, one observation and one question: The question that springs to my mind is why would Tiger be selling up so quickly? I presume it's because he's be...

Re: Robinson Out

I think we’re basically in agreement, actually. But my point is that although the rumour mill suggests the takeover is imminent, it’s quite conceivable that it could take longer to complete (like Thanakarnjanasuth’s did last year) or not happen at all (like Sartori’s). If that were to happen, and KR...

Re: Robinson Out

Dr Bob: you’re quite right that we need to learn lessons from last season regarding managerless spells during a takeover. But the lesson from last season wasn’t that you should stick with a failing manager - it’s that you shouldn’t delay appointing a replacement. If Sumrith Thanakarnjanasuth has any...

Robinson Out

I said on a post-match thread a few weeks back that any manager deserves ten league games to show what they can do. Well, KR has had that, and there’s no arguing with the facts. We are second bottom. His formation is toilet. We have a gazillion creative midfielders but can’t score. He signed those g...

Re: City slickers

I agree with all of that. They were miles ahead of us, no complaints there. But they didn't have to work hard for their win. Even at 0-0, there was no doubting that they had several further gears to go if needs be. KY is spot-on about our tactics re: pressing. Still, no harm done and there will be p...

Re: Stadium (again) - fans forum

I've just listened back to the interview. Very robust - confrontational - language from Kassam. I did struggle to keep a straight face when he talked about "idiots trying to come in, make money out of the club and get out again". Heaven forbid, eh Firoz? It really just underscored what has been said...

Re: Stadium (again) - fans forum

KY, a quick response: 1) If FK wants to make a mint from redeveloping the land into housing, it's a reasonable expectation that he allows us to leave pain-free in order to expedite the opportunity to do so. 2) See my post above - you may be right that any owner building a new ground would want to ex...

Re: Stadium (again) - fans forum

How can you stop an owner doing what he likes with the assets of the club, even if it builds a stadium with all the facilities in one ownership? Oh, legally you can't. But we don't have to take it lying down like we did before. Protests, boycotts, direct action, media campaigns - there's plenty we ...
