Re: Red fire coming out from his Gills
We definitely need a big old beast with a load of lower league experience somewhere in the back four to shore it up. Just someone to put a rocket up the rest of them. Agree with that. The moment I knew we were going to be serious contenders in the Conference in 2009/10 was when we signed Mark Creig...

Crewe-perbole
A lot of bluster knocking about on social media (from both sets of fans) over the decision to postpone today's game. But if you look at the club statement , it's neutrally-worded and measured. Crewe travelled down yesterday, a test showed up positive today, and all parties agreed the postponement. T...

Re: Trouble with a drunk coach
I wonder how much all these issues with iFollow are costing lower league clubs? I've yet to part with any money to use it (if I'm that fussed about a game, I'll find a way to listen to Radio Oxford), but the longer we go without supporters being allowed in, the more I'd possibly consider it. However...

Re: L'éléphant dans la pièce
I really really miss football. But what I miss is the live experience of it (ditto music as well). I have zero interest in watching us play on my laptop every Saturday afternoon, and probably won't be motivated to pay a tenner to do so. In the absence of OUFC, what I really want to do is go and watc...

Dickie Heads
To QPR , for an undisclosed fee (believed to be around the £1m mark, with add-ons but presumably also some money due to Reading too). I'd imagine we all feel he's worth more than that but have to temper that emotion with the fact that he's got less than a year on his contract. For me the bigger que...

Re: Next Season
A good analysis. The only area which I think you’ve forgotten is our plethora of promising youngsters who could (and, given the financial uncertainty, will probably have to) make the step up. Off the top of my head: Nico Jones - has started league games before for us at CB and looked very assured. F...
Re: M40
I don’t normally post immediately after a game, but here are a few random thoughts: Football on telly is rubbish, isn’t it? What I’d have given for the commentator to have said: “And to any viewers who might have been offended by some of the choice language picked up by our pitchside microphones the...

Not as good, but I’ve got a 12-year-old Knockando waiting for the nod. I’ll raise a glass to you, squire, if we get the result we all want...OtmoorYellow wrote: ↑Mon Jul 13, 2020 4:53 pm If we win, my cask strength Laphroaig will be jumping out of the bottle into my glass, insisting that we share the moment...
Re: M40
Good luck, folks, wherever and however you’re following matters tomorrow. I’m trying to be blasé about it, but I can’t fail to be excited by the chance for Oxford to get back up to Div 2, given our relatively modest crowds, ground and recent history. Whether I’d enjoy watching us play at such a leve...
Re: Playoffs
Well I wasn’t at the game yesterday, Jerome, because of bloody social distancing measures, but I listened to your commentary and I thought it was a flippin’ good result... Very happy with that. Both sides looked rusty, but us particularly in the first 20 minutes, and I thought Portsmouth had a great...
Re: Playoffs
In a remarkably serendipitous move, the Welsh Government have indicated they’ll be relaxing travel restrictions on Monday 6 July, meaning I can travel more than five miles from my house on the day of our second playoff leg. So I can drive to Oxford, visit family and listen to proceedings on Radio Ox...
Re: Playoffs
I fear I'm repeating myself , but I've never paid to watch football on telly and won't be starting now. I'm sure Now TV relatively affordable, but it's a matter of principle. This struck a chord with me: I'm fairly ambivalent about wanting Us to go up. What's the point having more glamorous fixtures...
Playoffs
Bit surprised it's not been given a standalone thread! What do we think then, folks? Are we excited? Nervous? A bit flat? For me, it's a combination of all three. Any playoff which we've reached without the thrill of the normal end of season leading up to it feels devoid of narrative. In a normal se...
Re: Furlough
All good points, KY. I don't pretend for a moment that there are any easy answers here, and nor do I pretend to answer for anyone but myself (and indeed acknowledge that I'm probably an outlier in my views). All I can do is speak for myself and say that live football for me is exactly that - somethi...
