Robert James Duffy, born in Swansea, was signed by Jim Smith just before the start of the 2006/07 season, after impressing the United manager during a short trial. During the first half of the season, Duffy exceded expectations, and by Christmas he was joint-leading goalscorer in the Conference, with a 100% record from the penalty spot. He ended the season as leading scorer, with 21 goals, but he did miss a penalty in the win at Southport. In 2007/08 Duffy failed to capture his goalscoring form of the previous campaign, and he was loaned to Wrexham in January. However, he made just six substitute appearances as they were relegated from the League, and he returned, injured, to Oxford with two weeks of the season remaining, before being released by United at the end of the season. Wales Youth international.
