Born Willenhall. Forward. One of the famous Clarke brothers, whose number included striker Allan, who played for Leicester City, Leeds United, and England, and Frank, who achieved fame at Nottingham Forest. Derek began his career with Walsall, for whom he played six league games in 1967-68, scoring twice, before moving to Wolverhampton Wanderers. He made only five appearances for Wolves in two seasons before Oxford signed him for £11,500 on 2 October 1970.
