Moustachioed super-hero, born in Sudbury, who led the line alongside Hugh Curran. Carved out a niche for himself as one of the best United strikers of the 1970s. There is a common misperception that United went to Scunthorpe to buy Keegan, but returned with Cassidy by error, however it was Cass in whom United were interested, and they bought him to the Manor for £20,000 in November 1970, setting a new club transfer record. Died in May 2008 after a short illness caused by an insect bite received while travelling abroad; he was 62.
