Although never considered one of United`s greatest goalkeepers, Judgey is nonetheless an Oxford legend. Not only did he play in the 1986 Milk Cup Final winning team, but he later went on to become the oldest player to appear for United, turning out in a 4-0 defeat at Southend at the age of 44. Alan Graham Judge, born in Kingsbury, was signed initially by Jim Smith in the run-up to Oxford`s promotion to the top flight, in 1984/85, and he displaced Steve Hardwick as the first-choice goalie the following season. He initially hung up his gloves in the early 90s, and returned to the Manor as the club`s goalkeeping coach. A goalkeeping crisis saw him play against Cambridge United in March 2003, before donning the gloves again a year and a half later. He went on to play for Banbury United, before finally retiring from playing completely in November 2006.
