Goalscoring problems over
United scored all three goals in this end-of-season friendly at Moss Rose, so that's one problem cracked at least. The fact that two of them were at the wrong end is neither here nor there - there are presumably some things that can be changed with continuous practice - and it's gratifying to see Jon Ashton's name on the scoresheet at long last.
United's second goal also came from an unlikely source, James Hunt scoring his first since he knocked one in against, um, Macclesfield earlier in the season. The goal that sealed the game came from a delicate flick over the keeper by Jefferson Louis, but the goals don't tell the whole story.
Despite the play-offs riding on this match, United's players approached the game in a relaxed frame of mind, coasting along in second gear for much of the match. This is surely a sign of good things to come next season, as Oxford's squad will be brimming with confid...
