Kiddy Fever

From the Rage Online newsdesk Saturday, January 31st, 2004

The morning game between Raging Fever and Kiddy supporters looked like it might not happen, as the groundsman initially refused to allow the teams to play due to waterlogged pitches. Eventually a compromise was agreed and the game went ahead on a smaller pitch that was only unplayable in small patches.

Fever started off very brightly and were 3-0 up after twenty minutes, thanks to a hat-trick from Jon Matthews. Unfortunately the defence went to sleep for the last part of the first half, and allowed Kiddy to pull back two goals. In the second half Fever soon extended their advantage after Gary Silver somehow managed to convert a penalty after a Kidderminster defended handled the ball.

Then things started to go dramatically wrong for the home side as the Kiddy supporters scored three times in quick succession to take the lead for the first time in the game. Some excellent work from our Mozambiquan midfielder Soandro allowed Jon Matthews to score his fourth to equalise, and with not long remaining Steve Fuller crossed from the left wing and Gez Foster prodded the loose ball home to restore the Fever’s lead.

Unfortunately the ref then added on an exhorbitant amount of added time, during which a Kidderminster shot took a wicked deflection to beat Joel Harrison and complete a 6-6 scoreline. This was probably a fair result, although Fever should be kicking themselves for not completing their second win of the season.
