United travel to Yeovil tomorrow for the first time as league opponents, hoping to complete the double over one of their promotion rivals. Following the Us’ win over Scunthorpe on Wednesday it is almost inevitable that Ian Atkins will make some changes, being unlikely to stick with the adventurous three-man attack. Dean Whitehead is likely to return to the midfield, and we suspect that Atkins will start with the tried and rusted front duo of Julian Alsop and Steve Basham, with Mark Rawle dropping back to the bench. The only other possible change might be the return of Matt Bound to the back line, but none of the other central trio are particularly dropworthy unless Atkins sees fit to give captain Andy Crosby a day off.
Yeovil have Tin Tin in their squad, having signed him from Boston earlier this season. Young Simon Weatherstone didn’t make much of an impact when playing against United at York Street in October and he will doubtless by trying to rectify that tomorrow. He will probably succeed, knowing United’s luck.
Having gone out on a limb and been all optimistic for the game at Orient last weekend, we feel that we have learned our lesson. Our prediction for tomorrow’s game is a more conservative 1-0 to the home side, although we will refuse to eat our hat (a very fetching pork-pie job) if that’s totally wrong.
