CAN’T BEAT KEATS

From the Rage Online newsdesk Tuesday, June 13th, 2000

Much have I travelled to football grounds
And many goodly teams and players seen;
On many songs and chants have I been keen
Which fans in fealty to their heroes sound.
At one club where debts of millions were found
Deep-pocketed Maxwell ruled, arrogant and mean
Yet never did I see a change of scene
Till I saw fanzines selling all around.
Then felt I like some watcher of a side
When a new player comes into the team
Or like stout Atkinson, who, more fat than wide
Stares at the camera like a cat who?s got the cream
Looks at some player who?s tested and tried –
?He?s past his peak? the portly pundit deems.
