Another defeat, another 90 minutes without scoring, and Oxford are in their lowest league position since before Robert Maxwell appeared on the scene (21st, fourth from bottom, in the relegation zone). Mickey Lewis was drafted into the team in a vain attempt to shore up the defence, with Steve Anthrobus relegated to the bench. Neil McGowan replaced Paul Powell at half time and Anthrobus and Jamie Lambert came on for Derek Lilley and Matt Murphy. Liam George scored the game's only goal in the third minute. Steve Davis was booked for a late tackle. There's yet another depressing match report.
Paul Moody scored Millwall's first in their 2-1 win at bottom club Colchester, Andy Thomson scored both Gillingham goals as they beat Cambridge 2-1, Mark Druce scored the only goal of the game for Kidderminster Harriers against Kettering, Dave Leworthy scored as Kingstonian beat United's next opponents Morecambe 2-1.
No more news yet on who the mystery potential bidder is for Mark Watson, but Malcolm Crosby (currently coach at Derby) was seen at the Manor this afternoon (far be it for us to put two and two together…).
